Neither of them, at that time, paid attention to a number of topics that had always figured in the virtue ethics tradition—virtues and vices, motives and moral character, moral education, moral wisdom or discernment, friendship and family relationships, a deep concept of happiness, the role of the emotions in our moral life and the fundamentally important questions of what sorts of persons we should be and how we should live.

In this paper, I will discuss how personal, organizational, and cultural values affect decision making in my personal and professional life.
I will detail where I acquired my personal values and ethics, what I believe my organizational and cultural values are, and how these intermix when I am making decisions.
Also, I will explain the current business atmosphere in America in regards to ethics and how it relates to my personal and professional life. I believe I acquired my personal values and ethics from many sources. However, the main source is my family. Growing up in the United States, a family-based culture, I was fortunate enough to grow up in a house that included both a mother and father.
They taught me right from wrong, good from bad, and built a foundation of strong values to take with me into adulthood. The Church is another source of values, Christian values, which my parents are also responsible for teaching me.
I try to practice the Golden Rule every day in my personal and professional life. My organizational values stem from a long history of proud military tradition of the United States armed forces.
Air Force has many values, such as respect and discipline, honor and pride, to name a few. Excellence in All We Do. A good leader must first and foremost have good ethics and strong values.
My cultural values are those of the United States of America. Our country was founded on a desire for freedom, like freedom of religion and human rights. Thus, we value religion and living in a free and open society. We are also a democracy and Capitalist society.
Thus, we value the right to vote and choose our leaders, and we value the right to do business in a free and open market, and make a profit. The personal, organizational, and cultural values I have just explained tend to intermix when I am making decisions, both in my personal and professional life.
When I make a decision in my personal life, I use my personal values to decide the best course of action, and my personal values are made up of values learned from my personal, organizational and cultural experiences.
I also use my personal values in my professional life; thus, the same holds true when I make a decision in my professional life. This has affected me in my Air Force career as well; I was required to take an ethics class during my officer training and received training in ethical behavior as an officer and leader.
This training has strengthened my personal ethics and improved my self-confidence when making decisions on and off-duty. Now that I have discussed how personal, organizational, and cultural values affect decision making in my personal and professional life, I have reaffirmed, for myself, the importance of living and working with a core of good values.
Without credibility, there would be anarchy. We as human beings learn certain values and ethics as a child, then, must take responsibility for ourselves as adults and continue to learn good values and ethics and apply them to our personal and professional lives.
